Originally licensed as a novice in 1982, upgraded to Technician a few months later. Upgraded to Advanced and Extra in 1986. Relocated to Warren County in 1996.

Very active on all of the Staten Island UHF repeaters while I was living there.

Worked with Carole Perry (WB2MGP) to set up one of the first Student-to-Space Shuttle contacts using Amateur Radio (http://youtu.be/Hf839lfdO90).

Later started building repeaters with Carl Glovinsky WA2IAF (sk) and developed a bleeding-edge repeater controller built on a Radio Shack TRS-80 Color Computer which included synthesized voice and digital voice storage for ID messages (http://goo.gl/eK779 this was a big deal in 1985 :) ). While the controller has long been retired KA2PBT/R is still in-service on Todt Hill Staten Island on 445.825 (PL 156.7)

A early adopter of packet radio including building a TAPR TNC-1. Building your own TNC was the only way to get on packet at the time, commercial TNCs were not available (http://goo.gl/J3fYs).

A satellite enthusiast having operated many of the early "russian birds" (http://goo.gl/E6N4j) and later operating JAS-1 using digital techniques. These days I hope to improve my CW skills and to sit back in my chair and operate HF.
